Online counselling
Why choose online counselling?

There are many reasons to choose the online space as a medium for therapeutic work.

Online counselling offers us convenience in our busy lives. It requires no travel time or the stress of finding a car park and it can be accessed anywhere you can use a phone, tablet, laptop or PC.

For those living rurally, remotely or travelling, online counselling offers the opportunity to continue looking after your mental health and well-being.

For some, there may be other reasons to try the online space. It may be difficult to leave your own home, through disability, parenting young children, caring for someone else or you may simply feel more comfortable emotionally and psychologically in your own home.

What online counselling offers?

Online counselling doesn't have to be cold and impersonal. It is possible to make a meaningful connection with your therapist. As an accredited online therapist I endeavor to provide a safe, confidential, empathetic and energetic holding space to support whatever you bring to the session.

Depending on your preference or needs you can opt for video, instant chat, telephone or email counselling.

At serenity Counselling and Psychotherapy we use a secure video platform called Zoom for video sessions or instant chat. Video sessions can also be audio only if you prefer. Email counselling is provided via an encrypted service to protect your privacy.

Who online counselling is not for.

Online counselling is not recommended for you if:

-
you are in crisis.
-
you are psychologically unwell.
-
you are at risk of harming yourself or others

Preparing for a session

You will have already received your link for the session. Now is the time to prepare yourself and your space for the session.

-
First you will need to make sure your space is private, distraction or disturbance free and comfortable.
-
Shut doors, turn off phones and maybe get a glass of water.
-
You may want to light a candle that you blow out at the end of a session.
-
Being ready at least five minutes before the session begins means you will be able to make the most out of your session.
